Our History

OUR HISTORY

Calvary Baptist Church was started by Missionary Church Planter Bro. Curtis Gibson and his dear wife, Debbie Gibson. They are a veteran missionary couple with many years of service on the foreign field. The Lord began to show them the need for strong Independent Baptist churches in America and particularly southern Louisiana.

On March 23, 2003, the first service was held in their trailer home in Ama, LA. They had four people in attendance. A little less than a year and the church began to rent a storefront building in February of 2004. The store front needed lots of work and remodeling to accommodate a growing work. Finally, after much labor and prayer, Calvary Baptist Church held its first meeting in the new location on December 12, 2004. At present, the church now supports 13 mission projects and is currently adding a new Teen Department and still meets at the same location. We praise the Lord for the pioneering spirit and faith showed by Bro. and Mrs. Gibson to birth this new work in
Luling, LA.
